RSM-VAT: Response Surface Model - Visualization and Analysis Tool
实时空气质量模拟可视化分析工具
Introduction 系统简介
RSM-VAT uses predicted ambient concentrations from air quality models such as CMAQ to estimate a “real-time” response of pollution concentrations to emissions changes. A response surface that parameterizes changes in ambient concentrations resulting from emissions changes is built using a high-dimension Kriging interpolation technique. The response surface supports instantaneous estimates of ambient concentration changes resulting from emissions changes from a predefined set of emissions sources, locations, and precursor emission types. RSM-VAT is a powerful tool for researchers and policy makers to quickly evaluate multiple emissions scenarios impacts on the attainment of air quality standards. For public health applications, the tool provides a platform for exploring how different air pollution mitigation options impact health outcomes and costs.
Assessment principle 评估原理
The RSM is produced through a sequence of post-processing steps to the output from an air quality model. The user first selects a set of emissions control factors based on the decision being supported (e.g. ozone reductions or regional haze mitigation). A control matrix design is then produced by the RSM tool through Latin Hypercube Sampling. Air quality model simulation results are then input to the RSM, based on the selected “Multi-Region” (multiple regions) or “Regional vs. Local” (two regions) design . Non-linear statistics with Kriging Interpolation are used to build the response surface from the results of multiple air quality model simulations (usually several hundred model runs depending on experimental design). Finally, the resulting RSM is validated through cross validation and out-of-sample validation with the input air quality modeling results.
Functional Design 功能框架
RSM-VAT consists of four modules: Control Matrix Generator, Create RSM Module, RSM vs. CMAQ Validation Module, Visualization and Analysis Module.
  • The Control Matrix Generator …
  • The Create RSM Module is used to configure the RSM-VAT tool and to input a set of air quality model data files as parameters for creating the response surface. This module produces the RSM and the associated Model and Policy file.
  • The RSM vs. CMAQ Validation Module evaluates the RSM for accuracy. Validation is performed using various statistical techniques to compare the RSM back to the air quality modeling results from which it was derived. The validation approaches used in this module consider the uncertainties associated with the development and application of the RSM.
  • The Visualization and Analysis Module presents the relationship between emission control factors and ambient concentration in the form of instantaneous concentration maps, visualization display graphs, and data analysis charts.
